Extension with a mix of apartments
Urban development: Design advisory board gives green light for extension of Deutsche Bank branch
Göppingen, February 2, 2024 | The design advisory board of Göppingen, led by Building Mayor Eva Noller, approved the amended design for the extension of the Deutsche Bank branch building on Mörikestraße in its last meeting. No further submission is required.
Investor Jan Watzl from Pöcking, Bavaria, is now submitting the building application, as he aims to commence construction as quickly as possible. He purchased the 1960s building from the financial institution and intends to renovate and expand it by two stories. The bank will remain as a tenant in parts of the building until 2029. A mix of studio apartments and regular apartments is planned for the site. The city of Göppingen, known for its university, is in desperate need of housing. The existing building is to be retained. Instead of three, only two stories are now to be constructed on top of it. This was the suggestion of the advisory board.
The new construction is intended to be slightly scaled back, with the two facades – the old bronze-colored one and the new two-story one – distinguished from each other. In addition to a rooftop garden, a green concept is to extend throughout the entire building. Access to the underground garage is to be eliminated, as there are vacant parking spaces available nearby in the Agnes building.
